Plane Travel tips
PLAN AHEAD: Buy your flight ahead of time to ensure you get the cheapest rate and the seat you want. Make a mental note of flight requirements and limitations. If you’re bringing a checked bag, weigh the bag before you leave the house to make sure you’re not over the 40lb. requirement (bag limits, boarding time, TSA regulations)
⁃ If you use cheap airport parking, park under a light, if possible
⁃ Set your Lock Screen, on all personal devices, to a picture of contact information in case of emergency, or in case you lose your phone during travel.
⁃ Wear as many layers as possible, and choose clothing with lots of pockets to avoid extra baggage fees (pack thin, dress thick)
⁃ Pack separate outfits in ziplock bags, and push out all the air before sealing each one. This not only keeps things organized, but allows more space for other travel essentials.
⁃ Always check the weather before you leave. Though it isn’t always 100% accurate, at least you’ll have a better idea of how to pack.
⁃ Bring a trash bag… yes, it’s strange, but trust me on this one. Bring a small, and a large trash bag in you carry in. The big one is for dirty laundry small one is for trash you’ll accumulate during travel (avoid all those gum wrappers, empty snack bags, used sanitary wipes, and old boarding passes getting smashed in the bottom of your carry on) You can thank me later…
⁃ OR bring a laundry bag (in replacement of a trash bag)
⁃ Make lists (things to do before your flight, what clothes to pack, toiletries to bring, carry on necessities, things to do after you land, etc.)
⁃ WEAR SOCKS… or at least bring a pair with you through security. Most checkpoints will make you remove your shoes, so better be prepared!
⁃ Empty your plastic water bottle before going through security, but DONT throw it away. You can refill your bottle after getting through the TSA checkpoint.
⁃ Keep your ID and boarding pass Somewhere easily accessible. Lines might seem like they’re moving slowly, but once you’re next, you better be ready. Don’t assume you’ll have time to rummage around in your bag for a passport or boarding pass. Keep it out until you’ve made it onto the plane, then immediately put it away, somewhere safe.
⁃ Be polite, and don’t dilly dally. Just because you got there 2 hours prior to boarding, doesn’t mean everyone else did too. The airport is no place to doddle.
